Arthrosamid Injection

What is Arthrosamid®

Arthrosamid® is a ground-breaking injectable hydrogel designed to relieve pain and stiffness caused by knee osteoarthritis. It is a proven, non-operative treatment that helps reduce discomfort and improve mobility in a carefully selected group of patients who are not ready—or may wish to delay—knee replacement surgery.

This innovative treatment works by cushioning and lubricating the knee joint from within, reducing inflammation and improving movement. Unlike other injections such as corticosteroids or hyaluronic acid, Arthrosamid® stays in the joint long-term, providing ongoing relief that can last for several years

How does Arthrosamid® work?

Arthrosamid® is an advanced, minimally invasive treatment for knee osteoarthritis. It is a single-dose injectable hydrogel implant, composed of 2.5% cross-linked polyacrylamide and 97.5% water, designed to integrate with the synovial tissue of the knee joint

When Arthrosamid® is injected into the joint space, it distributes within the synovial fluid and adheres into the synovial lining, forming a soft but stable visco-elastic layer.

This hydrogel integration helps to:

  • Cushion the joint and improve glide between surfaces

  • Provide sustained mechanical support to reduce pain and stiffness

  • Improve joint function and mobility in daily activities

  • Offer a long-lasting non-surgical alternative for patients with knee arthritis

Arthrosamid® is suitable for patients with mild to moderate knee osteoarthritis who:

  • Have persistent pain and stiffness despite conventional treatments (e.g., physiotherapy, medications, standard injections)

  • Wish to delay or avoid knee replacement surgery

  • Are looking for a durable non-surgical option to maintain mobility and quality of life
